Here are a few ways in which your gift helps:
S.T.E.P Towards the Future:
The goal of this program is to provide funds to four important areas: scholarships, technology, education ( & community), and programs.
Oneida Healthcare Foundation awards over $15,000 a year in scholarships in the memory of Greta B. Sanderson, a valued volunteer of OHC. These scholarships are aimed at supporting our hardworking staff to the pursuit of higher education, promoting personal growth and continued excellence in their chosen field. Nurses as well as all Allied Health professions are considered based on specific criteria established by a committee of Foundation Board members and OHC staff. Supporting education for our staff has the added benefit of raising morale and instilling loyalty.
A recent recipient writes:
"I am honored and grateful for your generosity and I am deeply appreciative of your support."
OHF also awards 2 scholarships to area high school seniors entering healthcare professions.
Gifts of Technology:
Each year the Foundation makes a donation toward medical technology such as:
- Vital Simulation Manikin for ongoing clinical education
- Nurse Call System upgrade
- Natus Hearing Screeners for newborns
- Video Gastroscopes
- DEXA Bone Density Scanner
- Stereotactic Breast Biopsy equipment
- and more
The gift you make toward technology helps maintain OHC as a vital resource for our community.
Diabetes Self Management Program:
This program offers needed funding to OHC for the continuation of their Diabetic Self Management 2 day program that runs 5 times per year for patients newly diagnosed with Diabetes or as a refresher course for patients in need of extra assistance. A multi-disciplinary team of professionals teach the course with a curriculum consisting of : Physical Fitness, Nutrition and Diet, Medication Management, Social Services, and Diabetic Education from a Certified Diabetic Nurse Educator.
Oneida Healthcare Foundation established the Laurie's Legacy Breast Cancer Fund in 2011 through a grant from Saint Agatha Foundation of Syracuse.

Extended Care Resident Fund:
One of our community's greatest treasures - our elders, find that the Extended Care Facility is truly their home. Through activities they enjoy in an atmosphere that is warm and inviting, our loved ones lives are enhanced and supported. The ECF utilizes these funds to provide such amenities as: Outdoor gardens and seating areas, inviting family gathering areas within the facility such as the lobby with fireplace, the sunroom and more. Funds designated to a certain floor or to a specific piece of equipment are always used in accordance with your wishes.
Your gift provides our elders with the same homelike environment from which they are accustomed and encourages family visits to be a time of true quality.
