Service to Promote Health and Welfare in the Oneida Community
The Oneida Healthcare Auxiliary's purpose is multi-faceted.
To quote our mission statement "The purpose of this organization shall be to render service to the Oneida Healthcare Facility and to the Extended Care Facility and the patients thereof. And to assist both facilities in promoting the health and welfare of the community." Each year the auxiliary and the volunteers give in excess of 20,000 hours serving the needs of patients and the community. Our sewing committee sews Teddy Bears for our little patients, Christmas Stockings for the newborns, Comfort Pillows for surgical patients and carry bags for wheelchair patients of the ECF. The knitting committee knits lap robes, baby items for the Gift Shop and hats and booties for newborns. The morning and afternoon coffee service serves coffee to the staff and visitors of the acute care facility. We decorate for the holidays, do employee and doctor recognition and maintain and staff the gift shop, just to name a few of our many activities.
One of our main committees is fundraising. In the past few years some of the items purchased were: a portable cardiac monitor for the ER, oxycimetry for the ICU, chairs for patient rooms, wallpaper and pictures for patient rooms, radio's for the patients at ECF, nutritional planners for the kitchens, the pool for the physical therapy department and exercise equipment for OHC's employee wellness program.
The Auxiliary welcomes all new members.
